Legal Counsel - German speaking (f/m/d)

Vienna
Full-time
Permanent employee

What we build

Most companies find out about supplier insolvencies, cyber attacks, factory fires or floods that affect their supply chain when it’s already a crisis. Prewave exists to change that. We’re an AI-native company giving companies like BMW Group, Hilti and Lufthansa real-time visibility into supply chain risks before they become headlines.

We’re looking for a German-speaking Legal Counsel (f/m/d) who takes ownership of all legal and contractual matters behind our customer and partner growth from day one. Someone who uses AI as a default part of how they work - and knows when to trust their own judgment.

What you'll own

  • Steer all legal and contractual matters in connection with acquiring new customers and partners, so deals close quickly and on solid terms
  • Lead legal negotiations with prospective customers and set up contracts that reflect both technical and business requirements
  • Deliver proactive, in-depth and business-focused commercial legal advice to teams across Prewave, so they can move fast with confidence
  • Manage communication with external legal advisors on specific topics, keeping scope, cost and outcomes under control
  • Shape and optimise internal legal processes together with our Legal Team, so contracting scales with the business

What we are looking for

Must haves

  • 4-5 years of in-house legal experience in a SaaS or tech company, with hands-on exposure to: drafting and negotiating SaaS agreements, MSAs, DPAs and SLAs; software licensing and IP; cloud vendor and third-party procurement contracts; and advising on go-to-market and product compliance.

  • Law degree from an Austrian or German university

  • Proficiency in contract, commercial, intellectual property, copyright and data protection law

  • Understanding of SaaS-related concepts and technical acumen

  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently

  • Collaborative spirit and interest for a start-up environment

  • Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken

  • Valid work permit for Austria

Bonus points for

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity legislation.
  • Knowledge of ESG and supply chain regulations.
  • Technical acumen.

What's our working style

We’re a resilient AI-native team building an AI-native resilience product - and we hire for both. For us, AI-native has always meant humans and AI working together, not one replacing the other. We use tools like Claude and Gemini as a normal part of the job, to think faster, work smarter and spend less time on the repetitive stuff. We treat AI fluency as a skill like any other - something you build, experiment with and keep developing.

What goes with that is real ownership. You’ll have the space and the trust to figure things out your way - with a strong team around you and plenty of support when you need it. Things move fast here and the brief won’t always be complete, but that’s what makes the work interesting.

The people who do best at Prewave are curious by default, go after things rather than wait to be handed them, and don’t lose their footing when the plan changes.

We score five values in every interview - creating positive impact through our successful customers, being an ambitious tech innovator, operating with urgency, doing things that make sense and collaborating with kindness and respect - so you always know what we’re looking for and can prepare accordingly.
